Railways; First railway opened 1886.� Rail transhipments from Mozambique�s deepwater ports to other African countries have earned considerable sums for the Mozambique economy.� Lourenco Marques was linked by rail to the Transvaal in 1885, and Beira acquired a rail link to Blantyre in Malawi and Bulawayo in Zimbabwe in 1893.
