Wealth The Falkland Islands economy was mainly based on agriculture (sheep-rearing), but since the 1990s fishing and sales of fishing licences have brought in most revenue.� Exploration for oil was undertaken in the waters around the Falkland Islands in 2010 but no commercially-exploitable deposits were found.�

1Mainly in the Stanley area. However from 2012 the Falkland Islands Government has been surfacing roads connecting Stanley to all the other settlements.
Railways; none A line, 5.6 km long and 0.61 metre gauge, was built along the north coast of the Inner Harbour, Port Stanley, to transport coal to the generator of the wireless station at Moody Brook, from Navy Point harbour.� It is now disused.
